New German Films
The recent trend of the younger generation of film-makers towards versatile styles, high level techniques and authentic topics continues.
This years focus shifts to feelings and family fortunes. The films include BERGFEST by Florian Eichinger, a film about a father-and-son-conflict
(the leading actor Martin Schleiss is from Braunschweig) and DRAUSSEN AM SEE, the history of a family, that fails at an unsaid conflict.
The comedy 13 SEMESTER by Frieder Wittich shows the different development of two friends during their years of study (the last two
films will also be shown in the framework of the Franco-German Youth Award KINEMA). In times of economic crisis little stories about
the private are spotlighted. Fatih Akin’s humerous comedy SOUL KITCHEN is a very special sort of regional film. Full of black humor
is Michael Kupczyk’s gangster comedy DIAMANTENHOCHZEIT.
The series "New German Films" is being supported by Gaertner Datensysteme.
