New Films from Braunschweig School of Arts 2009 - Programme

La Dame Blanche
Director: Estelle Belz, D 2009, 4:07 min, DV

In a Forest in the south of France some children go for a walk picking up some strawberries, but this forest is haunted from a strange and invisible white Lady with a captivating voice. Away from home such a detail may be allowing irrational thoughts. Fairy and creatures who lived there are only the expression of our anxiety as an invitation of folkloric superstition. I tried to create a fantastic and oppressive atmosphere that the darkness carries on.

One, Two, Three...
Director: Mira Amadea Breuer, D 2009, 16:15 min, MiniDV

Someday one has a dream and at a single blow it can come true. But the way there is very long. An experimental, biographic documentation about a long preparation for a short moment.

In Time

Mauvaise Foi
Director: Stef Füldner, D 2009, 4:50 min, MiniDV

For Sartre „Mauvaise Foi“ is the description for the incapacity to sincere self-awareness. The human being lives as liar and is lied to after a concept which is more spontaneous than the will. The film consists of snatches of the unconscious, the plan that has been initially and will be...

C'est dur, très dur - Zivilisation
Director: Sabine Janz, D 2009, 12 min, DV

ZIVILISATION deals with the question of beings in the current society. It is a combination of genuine casual and partly composed daily sceneries, which sets a critical and selfironic look on our western civilisation. My interest in this film was the western conception of life, strangely enough pretending to universality, which I have mostly represented with static pictures.

Heute - Morgen - Gestern
Director: Joachim Ruhe, D 2009, 8:40 min, DV, colour, without dialogue

In everyday life pictures and sound blur to a composition which enables the observer to follow the filmmaker on a journey through his living environment.

One 103 happy : 83 sad minute and thirty seconds
Director: Per Olaf Schmidt, D 2009, 1:23 min, DV

I wanted to make a film, which has the most highest potential of emotion, though we made up a list of all possible situations for pictures, classified in the catergories: “happy” or “sad”. Happy are e.g. sunsets, cake, toys, beach, whereas “sad” is more: war, destruction, aridity, hostage-taking…

Liebeslied
Director: Lisa Seebach, D 2009, 2 min, MiniDV, colour, chinesisch

A second voice conquers step by step this song, which experiences it’s own emotional interpretation by this.

Jugendliebe
Director: Sandy Scholze, D 2009

"I love you, horses with your long silky trails, Atlas is your skin and firecoloured velvet are your eyes. Such beauty is cultured for the devoutness of the horses, able to play and coloured blessed." Else-Lasker-Schüler (1869-1945)

Brüder und Schwestern - Ein Gedenken
Director: Enrico Viets, D 2009

A meditation dedicated to the lost, unwanted and discarded thoughts.
