Director: Hanna Schygulla, C/Paris 2009, 105 min, DVcam, colour, GS
Actors: Alicia Bustamante

'In Cuba Alicia Bustamante is a legendary figur of the film and theatre scene. I got to know her in 1991 when shooting for TV on Cuba, after a script of Gabriel Garcia Marques. Since this time we stayed in contact. It was her who brought me to singing and staged my programmes from Paris. In my portrait of this versatile woman Frau (shot in Paris and Havanna) you will also see a few examples of those moments, where – with her sence for the absurd – she turns everyday life into comedy. Of course I could not call a camera man every time. Therefore I took the camera myself. The result might convey to you the magic I feel, when this woman despite all the wisdom of her years revives the genius of childhood: a lesson of youth for the old age. „Cinema d’auteur“, homemade with plenty of cuban aroma, a breeze of Paris and heated with the flame of enthousiasm without awe of daring something new.' (Schygulla)
