Award Ceremony: Peter Twiehaus
Su, November 9 8:00 pm Staatstheater Großes Haus
Already as a teenager he spent his entire pocket-money on cinema tickets. Today he is a "film-maniac",
obsessed with the world of film. He is entertained by Julia Roberts, loves the stories of Pedro Almodóvar, he is
rolling the aisles when Bully Herbig hits the screen and is touched by Andreas Dresen. About cinema he
loves the moment, when the lights shut down and he plunges into another world. Then, Peter Twiehaus is at ease
and at work at the same time; the man has turned his passion into a profession.
While studying at the Free University of Berlin (French and Science of Communication) he was working as an
assistant for RIAS2 radio. In Paris he started to produce reports for the radio. For several years he has been
the "Filmvorführer"(projectionist) of RBB television and film buff of the ZDF morning show for which he
reported live from film festivals like the Berlin International Film Festival and Venice.
At the film
fest Peter Twiehaus will host the the Award ceremony.

Reading: Winfried Glatzeder
Th, November 6 8:00 pm Bookstore Graff
He counts among the most popular film stars of the GDR. Because of his face he was the Belmondo of the East. He
wrote film history with
"
The Legend of Paul and Paula".
Born 1945 in Zoppot near Gdansk in todaysPoland, he grew up in Berlin, and, after his A-Levels he first of
all trained to become mechanical engineer. This was when he did his first bits of acting. Winfried Glatzeder
became involved with the cabaret group at his technical college. From 1965 to 1969 he studied acting at the
HFF-Potsdam-Babelsberg. The thesis for his degree was about clowns. From then on, he worked at the Hans-Otto-Theater
and at the Berlin Volksbühne, and became brilliant in the area of the comedy but playing character parts as
well. This was followed by the screen. Following some smaller roles for the Defa, he started to play
leading roles. He is still remembered for his playing the role of Erwin Graffunda in "Der Mann, der nach Oma kam"
("The man who came after Granny"). In 1973 he had his breakthrough playing Paul in
"
The Legend of Paul and Paula" next to Angelica
Domröse. The dark side of fame: He is noticed by the Stasi who want to recruit him.
In 1982 Glatzeder moves to Berlin West with his family. He plays on the stages of West Berlin theatres,
makes regular guest appearances at the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf. He can be seen on television as Inspector
Ernst Roiter in the Tatort series at the end of the 90s. Glatzeder is still busy and continues his career
on the screen and on TV. In 2007, he returns to his beginnings and plays at the Hans-Otto-Theater in Potsdam
together with Angelica Domröse.
An exciting piece of life on the stage between East and West, a piece of contemporary history, intelligent,
witty, told with cheerful charm: "Paul and I". At the International film
fest Braunschweig Winfried
Glatzeder reads from his autobiography, November 6, at the Graff bookstore.

Two people meet and know they are meant for each other: Sales assistant Paula, single mother, and Paul,
unhappily married. Everything around them seems unimportant, but Paul does not want to ruin his career with a
divorce, nor is Paula spared by fate. Dream and reality, poetry and the triviality of real life are mixed
with fun, irony and seriousness.
