In 1799 during the Napoleonic wars, Julietta Marquise of O. is saved from marauding soldiers by a Russian count, who then cannot
resist, drugging and violating her. Having become pregnant the marquise starts searching for her child's father. The count however
returns and tries to atone for his deed by marriage. This adaptation of Kleist won the Golden Palm at Cannes. Bundesfilmpreis for Bruno Ganz.

That is not a nice thing: Housewife Rosalba is left behind by her husband and children at a service area. She hitches to Venice where
she meets a droll Icelandic waiter, and the vivacious Grazia, and ends up working for a flower dealer. Rosalba blossoms like a tulip
in this melancholy but vibrant film. The film won 9 Italian Oscars. Best male actor: Bruno Ganz.
