Jens Schlieker Johannes Kobilke Boris von Sychowski Mechthild Kaub

One film, two perspectives: how do a director and a composer see the same film? How do they work together?

In cooperation with nordmedia, the film promoter for the provinces of Lower Saxony and Bremen, the 18. International Film Festival in connection with its special focus on "Music and Film" offers a workshop for the creative – and complicated – interaction of directing and music. To be regarded as a relaxed seminar, the workshop is for students specializing in the fields of film, media and film music and for any Festival visitors interested in film or cinema in general.

Jens Schlieker, composer, pianist film producer and owner of a film studio will present the various professional opportunities in this field and ways of attaining them. How can one get started? What future perspectives does each profession offer? How do directors and composers even get together?

Two members of the Adolf Grimme Akademie, composer Johannes Kobilke and director Boris von Sychowski, will report on their own practical experience in the branch as well as on their work on the set and in the editing room. Both have had long years of experience in the fields of film, television and advertizing.

Mechthild Kaub, Film + TV Consulting, will present the workshop. She accompanies the building of the communal network of "Filmlocation Lower Saxony".
