PÔLE IMAGE - HAUTE-NORMANDIE

Since 2002 the Braunschweig International Film Festival and the North French film foundation Pôle Image have been engaging in film exchanges between the two partner regions of Lower Saxony and Upper Normandy. It was the Braunschweig Film Festival that initiated this first film-cultural exchange on a regional basis between France and Germany.

In cooperation with Pôle Image the Film Festival chooses the German short films that will be shown in Rouen at the beginning of March at the Festival du Cinéma Nordique. Then in November the Braunschweig Film Festival offers the artists from Normandy a forum for their work.

The "Pôle Image Haute-Normandie" was founded in 2001. It works in close cooperation with the province of Upper Normandy and dedicates itself, among other things, to films and photos, to their use in schools and to photo and film archives. In addition, it supports the work of directors in the region. Pôle Image will be sending artists from Normandy to Braunschweig again this year.

The jazz big band "Euphonium", together with musicians from the Braunschweig State Orchestra, will be performing for the first time music composed especially for the silent film classic "La Passion de Jeanne d'Arc". This one-time event will take place on November 10 at 8.00 pm. in the Paulikirche. In addition, Pôle Image will present three modern middlelength films. Directors Isabelle Coudrier and Thomas Rio will personally present their films; and – Richard Turco, the director of Pôle Image, will also be present. German subtitles will be supplied especially for these works.
