The Great Seduction (La grande séduction)
Director: Jean-Francois Pouliot, CDN 2003, 110 min, 35 mm, colour, GS

The golden years of fishing have long passed on the French-speaking coast of Canada. In the village of Sainte-Marie-La- Mauderne almost everyone is on the dole. Hopelessness and depression have spread among its 125 inhabitants. With tax benefits they want to attract a small factory looking for a place to set up. However, the potential employer has some demands: no factory without a resident doctor. There is, however, no doctor; so one must be found.

The film combines the charm of "Amélie" with flaky British humour. The enchanting story has won numerous festival awards and was audience favourite in Québec.br>

Additionally we will show the short film:

Strict Eternum

D: Didier Fontan, Music: Christian Gaubert
F 2004, 8 min, 35 mm, colour, ES

A man and a woman are held prisoner in their fashionable suburb environment by a snow storm. This is the first of three episodes, which, like Russian matrioshka dolls, make for a humorous and thought-provoking film. The playful music, reminiscent of musical clocks, transports the spectator to the infinity and unreality which confront him in this film.
